Pakenham Synthetic Racing Tips: Thursday, April 29th

Racing on the Pakenham synthetic course tonight and Trent Crebbin has two bets on the card.

Racing heads to Pakenham for the first meeting on the synthetic course this season.

Trent Crebbin has done the form and on a card with plenty of short priced favourites, picking out two races to bet in.

The rail is true and should play fairly, with the synthetic course sometimes leading to an on pace advantage.

I was with (4) Fac on debut at odds and he put in a strong effort. He was no match for the odds on favourite Sweet Sixteen but stuck on well and there were some big gaps back through the field. Sweet Sixteen has won again since at Pakenham and the 3^rd horse Lyrical Lad absolutely bolted in at $1.65 next time out, so the form looks strong, and this isn’t an overly strong maiden. Should be winning.

The favourite (1) Zipping Boy should be winning. He was good first up in a stronger race, finishing 3.6L away in 5^th, getting a long way back from a wide gate but hitting the line very well, running the meeting’s fastest last 200m behind Galenus and Ocular. He bolted in 2^nd up last prep, and did lead all the way on debut at this T/D on the synthetic. Draws well and should go very close.

(5) That Girl is certainly good enough but the last two runs have been awful and I don’t want to back a mare into form at a fairly short price.

Trent Crebbin

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
